Current Projects

Children’s Magical Garden - Children’s Eggsplore Space

Originally built as a chicken coop, this egg-shaped structure is under renovation to become a children’s play space. Inside will house benches for children to sit, shelves where art supplies and toys will be stored, and a small stage that looks out over the front opening for children to put on puppet shows.

LIVING TREE AND FAUNA ART PROJECTS:

Brook Park - Children’s Play Cabana

This living willow play dome will create a space where children in the South Bronx can explore nature and spend a peaceful moment to reflect upon their environment. Working together with the children and the community, environmental artist Aresh Javadi will facilitate the planting and growth of the Children’s Play Dome and engage in the hopes of the children who will soon take over the play space.

Children’s Magical Garden - “La Rosa” - green living rose-shaped stage cover and mural

The living stage cover and mural for Children’s Magical Garden will be located in the Lower East Side of New York City. The living fauna will grow over the rose-shaped stage cover, as well as creating a living mural composed of various plants on the wall behind the stage. The cover and mural will shade and protect our brand new wooden stage, which will continue to provide a place for outdoor nature-inspired celebrations and education throughout the year.

El Jardín Paraiso - Children’s Fox Shaped Den

This living willow dome is a place for children to explore or a peaceful spot for them to contemplate life. It provides shade, shelter, and a wonderful habitat for the local wildlife and community. Environmental artist Aresh Javadi will collaboratively engage the dreams, design, & eventual building of the living willow dome with the children and their community. The many openings to the living dome will allow the inside to be easily viewed while providing shade and harmony.

The children will get to know the origins of the willows and other materials, who produced and/or harvested them, and that they are from sustainable sources. The Fox Den will be durable, long-lasting, and easily repairable when necessary, using materials and processes that support the makers, the community, and the environment.

Green Open Restaurants and Green Open Pocket park/Community Spaces for all NYC

COVID-19 has catalyzed the changing landscape of New York City with the Open Street & Restaurant Plan. More Gardens recognizes that the Open Restaurant spaces are the perfect planters for living tree canopies that provide shade, green shelter, air filtration, and beauty. The barriers filled with the required soil provide the perfect planting space for hundreds of thousands of pioneering trees, shrubs, and vines for our city and planet. This campaign works towards our mission of creating livable and abundantly greener communities that weave themselves into the new community gardens and remaining open spaces as we plant millions of urgently needed tree canopies.

III. Eco Green NYC Vision

The Eco-Green-NYC Mural will be an educational and inspirational visual tool for all New Yorkers. This poster was designed to inspire green and sustainable solutions in New York City, as well as to create a citywide plan for urban agriculture, one neighborhood at a time.

More Gardens Farm - Driftwood Garden Beds

In an effort to recycle and repurpose the thousands of pieces of driftwood that line the shore of the Hudson River, this project uses the driftwood to line and terrace garden beds. The driftwood provides a structure for the herbs, plants, and produce to grow within by creating whimsical, paisly-like shapes that pattern the garden.
