Call to mind the most breathtaking make-up you've ever seen and chances are the hand behind the beauty is Lucia Pieroni's. Mind-blowingly creative, unwaveringly cool, yet always, always beautiful, Lucia's work is admired both by her peers and the press alike for its fresh and modern approach. A native of Great Britain, Lucia's career began in 1989 with an introduction to the industry through her model sister, Paola Pieroni. Using products to enhance rather than conceal, Lucia created breathtaking and dramatic images, but always with a 21st century twist. Her signature look generated instant acclaim and a new makeup star was born! Lucia's career quickly skyrocketed, and she became the go-to artist for such renowned photographers as Glen Luchford, Mert & Marcus, Paola Roversi, Craig McDean and David Sims. In 1995, Lucia relocated to New York, where her talents graced the pages of the nearly every top fashion magazine, solidifying her as a premier make-up artist not only in New York, but in the world. Sensual, strong, thought provoking, envelope pushing, beyond beautiful... all these phrases have been used to describe Lucia's work. She is known for setting the trends rather than following them and her images become defining ones. No matter how fashion forward, Lucia says "I always want to do something beautiful. Even if I am doing a 'no make-up' look or one that's a bit crazy or dramatic, the end result still must be beautiful". This is an attitude that makes Lucia rare amongst her contemporaries. Today, Lucia can be found traveling the globe making stops in London, Milan and Paris where she works closely with top fashion designers. Lucia is also responsible for perfecting the faces of big screen sirens like Scarlett Johansson, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore. Beyond work, Lucia travels the globe for inspiration. As a constant collector, Lucia gathers fabric swatches, books, art, photography ...even food! ... from even her farthest flung destination, and always finds ways to incorporate these textures and shades into her own artform. Lucia knows how women want to look and what products they need to achieve it. And, she believes that the looks she creates should transcend boundaries. "I want make-up to be enjoyed, not just by supermodels, but also by real women," says Pieroni. "I love it on so many levels." Paola Pieroni Photographer, Clé de Peau Beauté 
Beginning with a degree in Fashion and Textile design from Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, Paola Pieroni's multi-faceted career has spanned both the fashion and design worlds. While still a student, Paola explored "in front of the camera" work, turning heads as a model for many of her designer friends including milliner Stephen Jones. Modeling inspired her to venture into fashion herself and, after leaving college, Paola started her own business in London designing couture collections for private clients. However, Paola's style instincts weren't satisfied through fashion alone; she soon branched out to interior design, helping her private clients and others create inspired and beautiful home environments. Interior design proved to be a true love for Paola, who soon began designing London shop interiors together with her partner Architect Simons Withers. Some of their better known work includes Erotic Emporiums for Coco-de-Mer in Covent Garden and Chelsea in London, as well as the Dinny Hall Jewelry store in London. With her incredible eye and long-honed design sense, photography is a natural extension of Paola's work, and has always played an important role in Paola's design projects. Having qualified from The University of the Arts, London, Paola has been working as a photographer professionally for the past four years. Amongst her specialties are portraits, interior, and floral photography, and she often produces commissioned work for clients' homes. Her published works have appeared in Japanese Esquire and Spurluxe magazines, to name a few. Paola lives in London with Simon and a cat called Pushkin. |
